Tessa and Mommy's Day O' Fun

So...Today is Tessa's last day of being an only child (unless I have about a million hours of labor tomorrow, which I'm not planning on.) And, honestly I've been a little nervous to transition her into the life of a big sister. I mean, she loves babies. But other people's babies. I think she might freak out when our baby has to stay here forever. So I've been planning on having a Tessa Day. Or as I call it, "Tessa and Mommy's Day O' Fun! (including Daddy)" If you're a Friends fan, you get it. If not, seriously? The end of Friends was like the end of an era....right Cailey? So I've been telling Tessa for the past few days that she can choose to do whatever she wants and we'll do it. So at first she was all, "let's play at Gracie's house." That's the little girl across the street. But Alex and I replied, "seriously, pick something better." So she says, "Gracie can come to my house." To which I said, "Tessa, my hell. Pick something awesome and Gracie can't come." (Note: I like Gracie. She's a cute little girl, but did anyone else hear Gracie's name in the title of our Day O' Fun? No.)

SO-now Tessa says:

"Let's go to the zoo. And the Aquarium. And that park that I wanted to go to someday. And I want a slurpee. And go to a farade (which I'm guessing means parade.) And swimming at Grandma Linda's. Is Stoney home? Let's have Cessy bring Stoney and Sebastian to our house and then she can leave so we can watch them. And where's Sophie? Let's go see her at her Grandma Keri's. Rubie can come to the playground with us. Can we go to St. George? I need band-aids, can we get some princess ones? Can we go to daddy's office and get him? I want Chicken Nuggets at McDonalds. Is Dexter at Grandma Linda's? I love Dexter."

What the f. I'm only having another baby...it's not like the world is ending and we have to go to every single place that's ever existed...

Our conversation then went as follows:

Me: "We can definitely go to the zoo. And to McDonald's. But we probably can't go to St. George."

Tessa: "But I want to. Kenzie and Sophie get to go. I want to go."

Me: "Well, would you rather go to St. George or have a BABY BROTHER?"

Tessa: "I don't want a brother anymore. I want to go to St. George."

So obviously, we're screwed.

But seriously, isn't she the best? What if our baby sucks? That's my biggest fear-that our baby won't be as awesome as Tessa is...and that he'll be ugly. (but that's every parents fear.)

Baby Update-It's LONG.

What up? So I got to leave work early (because I worked hard...) and Tessa is still with the grandma, and Alex is still at work, so I'm actually bored. I told Alex I had a ton to do, so good thing he rarely reads my blog, right!? Right on. I actually did have a lot to do-I finished off our S'mores Ice Cream...it wasn't gonna finish itself!
Anyway, I figure that I should do a lil update about my being knocked up and all, mostly because I have nothing else to blog about-seriously, it's like my camera got lost...it didn't, it's in my purse. But who wants to take pictures while being almost 200 pounds (that's right, I said almost.) So here we go:
Last Saturday, June 12th, Alex had invited a bunch of people over to watch some game on TV. Something to do with soccer...anyway, when everyone left it was about 11:00 PM. And I was tired-and my feet were huge. So we went to get ready for bed. Tessa fell asleep in about a minute, and I tried, but I started thinking about everything else I had to get done before the baby came. PLUS, Alex was leaving for another week the next day. So as I'm sitting in our bed, I started to freak out. I literally started sobbing. (Don't worry, it gets good.) Alex comes out of the bathroom and has this look like, "OMG. Not again." (crying is a common thing lately. Suck it.) So he asks me what's wrong and I proceed to tell him that I'm having a panic attack. I've had one or two before, so I was pretty sure that's what it was. I couldn't breath and I felt like my heart was attacking itself, so it was safe to assume. Well you know what assuming does? Exactly. Turns out, I was in labor...but don't you worry, this girl's no dummy-I figured it out pretty quickly. After about 20 minutes of my crying, I thought, "This isn't a panic attack...my stomach is hurting...oh wait. I'm contracting. A LOT. Yep, better start timing these." I'm sure I thought this in a different way, but who's really keeping track? So I tell Alex "I'm in labor, we've got to go to the hospital." Alex, the loving husband that he is, says no, because he doesn't believe me since I'm not due until July. But after about an hour of feeling like I wanted to kill him (which isn't uncommon in our house, but this time it seemed a little more intense) he finally decided to call the hospital. And they tell him to bring me on in if I feel like it. Seriously, do you think I feel like hanging out at home? Morons. Luckily Alex's lil sis was awake (it's now 1 am) and down at a friends, so her and her husband came over to stay with Tessa. Shout out to Les and Doug.
SO-we head to the hospital-they have me fill out paperwork, all the while I'm dancing around and making really gross breathing noises...plus I had already gotten all ready for bed, so I didn't even have on make up. And if you've seen me without make up, you know it's no good. So they take me to a room, and the nurse has me get all hooked up to monitors and everything so she can track the contractions. I get hooked up and she checked my girl area and informs me I'm dilated to a 2+ which was 'significant' because I was only a zero on Tuesday. But then she says that she's not quite sure because my cervix wasn't 'laboring' enough...I know, medical jargon. AND I'm only 36 weeks and 4 days, so they can't really admit me to help me through the labor. Apparently they prefer you to be 37 weeks if they're going to let you have your baby-something about their lungs being developed...I wasn't paying attention. So she said, "if only it were Wednesday" Thanks, Miran-duh. I'm thinking the same thing. So since I'm not quite effaced and it's Sunday, I can't be admitted yet, they can't break my water, and I can't get up to walk around because that will help my labor. Apparently they won't stop it, but they won't aid it. Good to know for next time, right? So she tells me she'll come back in an hour. Luckily Galaxy Quest was on. That Tim Allen gets me.
An hour later, she comes back, tells me I'm still at a 2+, but it seems to be progressing. My contractions were between 2-3 minutes apart-seriously, you could time contractions by those things. So she says that she thinks I should go home and come back if it gets worse. Then Alex tells her he's catching a flight at 3 pm, so it might be good to have the baby now. Unfortunately, my doctor decided that it would be a good week to go to Hawaii...I told her that if he were there, he'd definitely let me have my baby. He already thinks it's going to be a 10 pounder!
So she calls the on call doctor, who tells her no, they aren't going to break my water. So I get sent home, with the orders to walk around and try to get this labor into gear. She even predicted that I would be back there by 9 AM. So we get home at about 4:30 AM, all the while I'm having contractions. I walk around, jumped a little, but then I stopped because that hurts when there are things bearing down on your pelvic bones-plus it was loud and the kids were asleep. So I lay down, but can't really sleep because of the whole labor debacle. So at 6:30 I get up and walk around some more, still having consistent contractions, but I could bear it, so we decide to wait longer. Then at 8:30, I decide I'm starving, so I eat some Rice Chex...not the normal kind, the generic brand. Alex won't ever buy expensive cereal...that's off topic. Anyway, so after I eat, I lay back down and fall asleep. I wake up at 11:00. No contractions. No water broken. Obviously, no baby. It just stopped. The baby is still kicking around-everything is completely normal. It was like it had never happened.
AND I'M STILL PREGNANT TODAY.
I went to the doctor on Wednesday and the nurse said that exact same thing happened to another patient this weekend. Then she proceeds to tell me that if my doctor had been in town, he would've just broken my water and I'd have had a baby by now, which everyone loves to hear.
AND-the girl at Forever 21 asked me if I was having twins yesterday. What a bi-otch.
And I realize this post sounds like I'm hating this baby a little bit. I'm not-he'll most likely be awesome, as long as he's as cute as Dexter (please pray for my baby). It's just like I've been given a small taste of something I've been craving, only to have it snatched away after 7 hours of labor.
On a different note, I've spoken to my dad on the phone more this week than I have in my life. I swear he calls me about every 4 hours to see if I've had my baby or not. And everytime, my reply is-"Funny you should call, because I have someone who wants to say hi to his grandpa!!! No. I haven't had my baby. I will call you when it's time."
He just gets excited about the babies.

I'm still pregnant

Don't worry everyone. I'm still here....
And cheerful as ever. I was actually going to post about how awesome my feet look, but I can't figure out how to get the picture off of my phone and onto the computer. Just picture that guy that weighs like a billion pounds that they show pictures of in health textbooks. Those feet are my feet...

We're Moving!!

So Alex and I (along with the child and fetus) are moving...so we need to find someone to rent our townhouse! Alex's friends were going to, but they are dead to us now. (Mike and Steve, I'm talking about you.) I kid, I kid. But seriously, we are looking to rent it by June 1st, so if anyone is interested or knows anyone interested, let me know! Too bad I don't have any pictures of it...but I've lived here for 3 years, so you can bet it's awesome. It's 1100 square feet, 2 bed 2 bath. Brand new carpet, new kitchen (new appliances) and one of the bathrooms is redone. There is a pool and tennis court right out our back door. It's an end unit so we only share one wall with a younger girl who is never ever home, so we don't have to deal with loud neighbors. Oh and my favorite feature is that it comes with your own pool boy/gardener named Antonio (he even removes snow for you). So yeah...let me know if you are interested. You can leave a comment with your email address or something...

Best

Hey all....so it was mine and Alex's anniversary last week-5 years (I know, no one thought it would last). Well anyway, we went to New York, New York. The city so nice, they named it twice: the other name is Manhattan. (Direct Office quote.) Let me tell you, it was the best! Except for the day when Alex made me walk like 40 blocks for no reason-which pretty much made me go into premature labor, and then he wouldn't even buy me a hot dog. But that was just one day...to the good parts!!

Here were our highlights, so not to bore you with our week-o-love. I'll explain them further if need be. Get ready-it was full of highlights.

1: Alex surprised me by renting a limo to drive from Albany to Manhattan. It was totally stocked with Diet Cokes and Easter candies. My best day ever. Alex tried to make me lay down across the back, but I knew better...
2: Totally got to stay right in Time Square. So did every other Asian ever...
3: We met a Scottish guy who said he'd never met a Mormon before, so he was pretty stoked that he met 2 at once. He said it was like waiting forever for a bus-you get 2 at once? It was some analogy. All I know is he didn't even try to pitch to us his awesome new bar/comedy club on account of we were Mormons. Good for us. I didn't get a picture of him. Picture a guy with an accent. AND no, I don't mean Bronson Pinchot from Perfect Strangers, although every time I think of a man with an accent I think of him.

4: We had to take a bunch of pictures like this one:
because we didn't want to ask other people to take them for us...and the fact that I'm pregnant, so full body shots are not good. Ask my mom...she told me I was big. It's cool.

5: Every night when we went out, there were massive amounts of guys promoting a comedy show, and they would ask us if we liked comedy, blah blah blah. So one night, Alex said yes we did, but we were heading to see Rock of Ages on Broadway and this adorable African American gentleman gave him a bust and told him 'he (Alex) was a sexy white guy'. Alex won't stop talking about it...
Sexy enough for you? Ha-I can't resist these pictures.
6: At dinner one night, we were standing waiting for our table to be cleaned off, and there was an adorable little French woman who kept smiling her approvals at me. I'm pretty sure she was sending her good intentions to my baby, which is really sweet.
7: ROCK OF AGES!!!!!!!!-this highlight has like a bazillion highlights within itself. Oh my it was the best musical ever. For those who don't know, music pretty much makes my blood hurt. Not just any music, awesomely awesome music. And then I really love musicals. You make something into a musical, I'll become a fan. I wish they would air that Cop Rock show again, because I bet I would've loved it. Anyway, these things are all well and good, until they combine every band that I love into a MUSICAL. It literally (not literally) melted my face. AND, the star was Constantine Maroulis-you know, from American Idol. Oh my gosh, there are so many things I can say about this. But here, I'll break it down.
  • First, they gave everyone fake lighters. They were kind of like those laser pointer things, so you would push a button and it would light up. So when they would sing songs we would wave our lighters, just like a real concert.
  • We were right on the front row, to the side, so the actors/actresses would sing directly to us. And they would seriously sing to us. And once one of the guys practically kicked me in the head.
  • When the hippie in the play came down to pass out fliers, I was the only person in the audience that she gave one to. THE ONLY PERSON.
  • The drunk rocker (there was only one specific one) sat behind me for awhile and put his boot on my chair. It was part of the show. And he dropped his fake money, which I totally stole.
  • Near the end, the hot stripper girl came down into the audience and high fived me and Alex. It was like she gave us a private lap dance.
  • There were hot strippers...always a highlight.
  • When they were singing "Don't Stop Believin', Alex and Constantine had a moment. They smiled and head nodded at each other.
  • Also during "Don't Stop Believin', Constantine and other lead girl came over by us and my baby kicked, and he smiled and nodded at me. He totally approved of my pregnancy!
  • And lastly, the songs were freaking amazing. Seriously-you can't go wrong with Whitesnake, Journey, Mr. Big, Poison, REO Speedwagon, and many others...especially when Constantine is peering into your soul while singing...
This is when I remembered to take a picture. This is all the stuff we got from the musical. That's my flyer from the hippie, and my fake money...and my baby belly, which I had before.
But for realsies, it was the best. Except I sincerely missed Tessa so much. It was weird. Normally I'm totally cool with abandoning her with the grandparents/aunts whenever possible, but for some reason I cried almost every day because I missed her so much. It could be because of the hormones that are rushing through my body at a terrifying rate...or I just love that little girl.
And she got her cast off today, so she's not so boyish anymore! What's not to love!!??!!

Tessa's Phase

So I've always heard that kids (or maybe girls, who knows) will go through a phase where they want to pick out their own clothes and dress themselves and all that, but Tessa never did that, so I was like whatevs. Welp, I was wrong. She changes a good 6 times everyday, but her outfit always centers around this little tank top that I got from Forever 21.

It's so cute, but it's still way too big for her, so you get a little 'show' when she wears it...

Anyway, she's always so proud of herself when she gets dressed-all I asked is that she at least try to dress pretty...so this is what she came up with today.

Yep. That's a ballerina skirt. And she didn't even try to put the tank top on right...spiteful. At least she posed cute-I mean look at the extension of her legs! And I promise I actually do her hair. She pulled it out today so she could try to eat the clip that was holding it back...I realize most of my posts about Tessa make her sound "less than fresh"...I promise she's smart!

That's all I've got.

My broken child

Sophie wanted to see Tessa's new pink cast-so here it is!!
She's already taken it to some of the family to have it signed-the only problem is she wants to color all over it. But she was actually really excited about it. Now she looks like a tomboy...which everyone knows is all I ever wanted. I guess it doesn't help that I dress her in shirts with dinosaurs on them and green converse...I'm going to go put a tutu on her right now.
